This video explores my legs as both subject and object- having both narrative and form/material qualities.

Handstand Performance






In this piece, I pre-recorded a monologue discussing the event of looking and performance, directed at the audience who watched the handstand. I made reference to what they were looking at, how they could behave, or not behave, as audience members, and how they performed in everyday life. I questioned their purpose, the purpose of the performance, and even mentioned that I may collapse from the handstand before the tape ran out. The performance ended when I did collapse.

Fuck(w)hole





In this installation, I created two opposing videos, one which I repeated the phrase "fuck you" and the other "fuck me" in various ways. I projected these dueling videos so that the audience was caught between them. However, as emotional as the videos were, I did not include the sound. Rather, the sound was in another part of the show, and on headphones. However, when listening to the soundtrack, the audience could not see the videos, so that they only received one part of the installation at a time. The disconnect between voice and body was meant to explore issues in creating full identities, disparate identity, and images of women and traditional narrative structure in film.

Headphone Performance







In this performance, I chose something to listen to that resonated emotionally to me. I listened to it on headphones and allowed myself to simply react to what I heard without holding back. While doing this, the audience could not hear what I was listening to nor did anyone know. By not including the audience in on what I was experiencing internally while showing them how that was affecting externally, I created an intimate distance between the audience and myself- that, at times, resulted in questioning about whether or not i was listening to anything at all, or how sincere I was. Was I simply acting? These questions were completely acceptable and expected. Furthermore, by creating a disconnect between the experience of listening to the headphones and what I was projecting as a result, the audience was placed in a unique, strange position- a constructed voyeur.
